Update - Week 5

Published by Emily on 10th Jun 2019

My darlings, it has been a week! Can you tell by my outfit?

I spent the day either plastered to the outside wall of the house or in the attic, and I am so thankful to be alive and to have accomplished what I set out to do. I did not look cute doing it, and that is OK. The shoes are not part of my project, but our porch is freshly sealed and this is Designated Porch Footwear for the time being.

This week my capsule wardrobe felt like an embarrassment of riches. I wore twenty of my thirty-three garments. I was so excited to wear the newly-introduced items, it did feel a bit like cheating.

The new jeans photograph much more tidily than the 'mom' jeans did. They are not quite comfortable when it comes to sitting all day at a sewing machine. I definitely have more thinking to do on the jeans front.

My pencil skirt, on the other hand, was a dream, and not at all misbehave-y. I think wearing a  singlet tucked-in helped prevent any twisting, so that was great!

In last week's switch-up I added things that were either brighter or more neutral than what they replaced. I think this worked perfectly for me. I can either go super colourful or very toned down depending on how I am feeling.

I have put in two dresses that ride the line between long top and short dress. I'm not sure I'll get around to wearing either without pants, especially since I'm biking to work on any day it is warm enough to wear a dress.

There were two things I talked about in my last update that I hadn't managed to accomplish pre-switch-up. I meant to make myself a white t-shirt and denim bottoms that didn't bind in the crotch. I did that this week, as well as make this romper that I have been thinking about for a while.

It is too late to add them into this round, but you can see how I would be tempted. I will sit with these feelings and maybe switch them in at the end of this cycle.

I'm still excited about the wardrobe options available to me over the coming weeks, and I only hope my picture taking improves.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
